2017 Capiaux "Old Vine" Pinot Noir
Russian River
Being the first vintage of my two “old vine” vineyard sources, this wine has much potential for richness and aging. I’m looking forward to seeing where this takes the discussion of old vine pinot noir. Dark red in the glass with the aroma of roses and dark berries. A great blend of strawberry, ripe raspberry, pomegranate and vanilla on the palate and a long finish.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Old Vine (Russian River Valley) is a rich, heady wine. Ripe black cherry, game, inky blue purplish fruit, smoke, incense and licorice give the 2017 much of its distinctive personality. Muscular tannins add to an impression of pure power. This is a decidedly imposing appellation-level wine that needs time in bottle to be at its best. That said, the 2017 is super impressive, especially within its peer group
