2017 Capiaux Wilson Pinot Noir
Sonoma Coast
Wilson Vineyard is located on the Northern most part of a very large Sonoma Coast appellation just outside of the town of Annapolis. A few miles from the ocean and protected by a mountain ridge, this vineyard is protected from harsh ocean winds but benefits by its proximity to the ocean and forest that surrounds it. I have been jointly farming this 2.23 acres with the Wilson family for years. The elevation is 778 feet above sea level with a 13% slope.
Dark red in color and red fruit on the nose this wine shows close-to-the-ocean restraint. Freshly picked strawberry and raspberry on the palate and a terroir driven minerality. Low tannin but bright acidity in this wine. White pepper on the finish.

Antonio Galloni 94pts
The 2017 Pinot Noir Wilson Vineyard captures all the best qualities the vintage had to offer. Dark and powerful but with beams of salinity cutting through the fruit, the 2017 possesses terrific energy and vibrancy. Graphite, plum, black cherry, menthol, sage and licorice add to an impression of brooding intensity and power. This is an especially virile style for the coast.
