2019 Capiaux Garys’ Vineyard Pinot Noir
Santa Lucia Highlands
Garys' Vineyard is a highly acclaimed and storied site owned by two Garys: Pisoni and Francioni. It was planted in the mid '90's to Pisoni clones in Santa Lucia Highlands sandy loam soil. With my first vintage of Garys' in 1999, I could sense its old-world beginnings and knew this vineyard could rival some of the great Burgundy "grand cru" sites.
A bright red to ruby color and hue gives way to toasty oak and cherry pie on the nose. Black raspberry and blue fruits along with graphite minerality makes this a compelling wine. Moderate weight and tannins with great acid balance leads to an extremely easy to enjoy wine.
